In today's society marriages are depicted by your social status, your financial stability, and your ability to put on a false sense of union, which is far from the intent of what God would have it to be, which is true love, that a man has for a woman despite where they are in life.

Genesis 2:24-25 

24 Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh. 25 And the man and his wife were both naked and were not ashamed.
